Stonehill Retreat Center is home to the Shadhiliyya Sufis in Seattle, WA.
We are located on top of a hill with a southeastern view of the Cascade Mountains, surrounded by trees and beautiful gardens. We are just off the NW tip of Lake Washington in the city of Lake Forest Park (east side of Shoreline, just NE of Seattle limits).

Is God Your Friend?
There is no doubt that we live in challenging times. Our world, our country, our neighborhoods, our families – even our own beings – are in a state of upheaval, change and transition. We are challenged by economic chaos, special interest politics, fear-mongering and acts of violence. It is easy to listen to the voice of fear that makes us feel despairing and hopeless in the face of all the turmoil in our world.
Turmoil and change feels scary. It threatens our primal survival instinct. It is always more comfortable to stay with what is familiar, even if it is not working, than to risk stepping into the void of the unknown. When you feel sucked into the swirling whirlpool of change, tossed and tumbled by life, uncertain and afraid of the future, you need a place of safety and refugee.
You need to know God is your Protecting Friend. When you bring your vulnerability and challenges to God, you can receive the love, care, protection, guidance and wisdom you need to know how to meet your challenges, to thrive in the face of turmoil, and to give of yourself in a meaningful way to contribute to the “good work” that is alive and well in our world.
Sufism is an ancient spirituality that can help you know the deep inner peace of God’s Love and Care and receive the Guidance and Wisdom for living, thriving and being happy in the midst of the change and transition we are experiencing in our world.
A Spiritual Community of Divine Love
I am Amina Melody Pryor, director of the Stonehill Retreat Center. Whoever you are and wherever you are in your journey of life and spirit, you are welcome at the Stonehill Retreat Center. It is our intention and prayer that within our community everyone will find safety and acceptance, rest and ease for your spirit, and God’s Love, Mercy and Healing, so that you might benefit from a peaceful, strong and faithful heart, soul and spirit.
We share the teachings of Shadhiliyya Sufism, as taught to us by our spiritual teacher, Sidi Muhammad al-Jamal. Sidi teaches us that:
“If everyone really knew their religion, there would be only one religion – the religion of love, mercy, peace, freedom, justice and beauty.”
Whether you embrace a particular religion or spiritual path, or are seeking that which will feed your spirituality in a meaningful way, you can benefit from the Universal teachings of Sufism, which honors and values the teachings of all the prophets and sages.

Our VISION is for everyone to know the reality of Divine Love & Compassion in their heart and spirit and to express Divine Love & Compassion through their life, work and service in the world.
Our MISSION is to build spiritual community and offer spiritual practices and education, that all sincere spiritual seekers might:
- deepen into a profound, personal relationship with Divine Source (by whatever name you call It)
- know yourself to be loved, cherished and cared for in every way
- know and understand the beauty of your holy creation
- know and use your Divinely-given gifts in a meaningful, healing way
- participate in the life of God-centered community to help share the light and joy of God’s Love & Compassion with everyone who needs and wants it
